The vote will be by secret ballot and will be conducted and overseen by a representative from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), a branch of the federal government. The NLRB representative will be given a list of the names and job codes of all associates eligible to vote.
Observers selected by Genesis and observers selected by the Union will also be present at the voting site at all relevant times. These observers will be present to ensure the election is conducted appropriately and fairly. Neither the NLRB representative or the observers will see how associates vote. They are just there to observe the election and make sure all rules are followed.
The NLRB representative will bring portable voting booths, a secret ballot box and the ballots. Associates will be given an official ballot by the NLRB representative and directed to the voting booth.
The Secret Ballot
The ballot will be a piece of paper and will ask the following question:
"Do you wish to be represented for purposes of collective bargaining by WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEES LOCAL UNION NO. 322 A/W INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS?"
Two empty boxes will appear under the question: one underneath the word "YES" and one underneath the word "NO." The ballot will direct you to mark an "X" in the box of your choice.
Marking the "YES" box will indicate that you DO want to be represented by the Union.
Marking the "NO" box will indicate that you DO NOT want to be represented by the Union.
Do not write your name or make any marks on the ballot other than a single mark in the box of your choice. Doing so may disqualify your vote.
After marking the box of your choice, you will then fold the ballot in half and place it in the secret ballot box.
We cannot stress enough, everyone who is eligible needs to vote. Don't let other people decide your future without having a say. The election outcome will be determined by the majority of the people who vote.
So, if out of 220 associates, only 110 associates vote and 56 vote for the union, then those 56 associates determine the future for all 220 associates, including those who voted against the union and those who didn't vote at all.
We hope that you all take the opportunity to vote.
We will announce the results as soon as the ballots are counted and verified.
